Italian National Olympic Committee President Giovanni Malago said the country could not guarantee fans' presence at Euro 2020 matches, despite UEFA's demands.
"We want to get back to normal life as soon as possible, but it takes time to plan everything, including the Euro, which starts in about two months.
We can confidently say about some events that they will be held with or without spectators, but in this case, there is a strict requirement from UEFA that there should be fans. The problem is that at the moment, we cannot guarantee people access to the stadium, "the functionary said.
Recall that Euro 2020 was supposed to occur last year; however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was postponed until the summer of 2021.
It is planned that the matches will be held from June 11 to July 11 in 12 cities St. Petersburg, London, Munich, Baku, Rome, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Glasgow, Budapest, and Dublin.
Earlier it was reported that Ireland is not ready to guarantee that Euro 2020 matches with spectators.
