For more than a day, the Super League managed to discuss almost everything. It is difficult to recall a seemingly purely football situation in which both the President of France and the Prime Minister of Great Britain enter and vehemently take one side. A case in which the fans unite so amicably against the owners of their clubs, whom they cannot forgive for betraying football. After all, a footballing situation that is capable of so agitating the whole world. And after all, not a single match has been played!

In this article, we will present a skeptical view of the Super League idea. Let us ask its authors questions, followed not by direct answers but by outright demagoguery.

Whatever the adherents of the new (neo) tournament say, the sporting principle is absent in it as a class. The tournament has one winner and 15 clubs out of 20 that do not fly out under any circumstances. That is, a club that is one of the "untouchables", but at the same time failed the first half of the season, in the second one can do just anything on the field. After all, victory in the tournament is possible only mathematically, and there is no elimination for this team in principle.

"Football for fans"

The higher the place, the more money? Perhaps this is the only thing that the organizers of the celebration can initially offer the clubs for such cases. But we are talking about the sports principle, and even in such small details, it is replaced by the financial one.

And we no longer remember the cases when, for example, the last three teams may remain, but those following them will fly out. By the way, where to fly? If there will stay a whole hole in the relationship between the national championships and the new tournament, then simply nowhere. And how then to return? And how to go there not from the first season, if you were not bought by a new sheik or an American billionaire? Will wealthy people buy clubs that are not part of the Super League for the moment? After all, where is the guarantee?! Yes, Florentino Perez has already announced the possibility of creating a second division, but the principle of entry/exit should work there too.

In general, proceeding from all these questions (unfortunately, rhetorical), in a profound theory, it is possible that 20 of the same ones will always be played, and none of the officials have explained all these important nuances yet, even approximately, and therefore we can only speculate.

The fate of other tournaments, clubs, and national teams

This point follows from the previous one. Enlightenment in the relationship between the Super League and UEFA has yet to be found. The fact that UEFA itself brought the situation to the emergence of such a powerful competitor (and let's say frankly - without the monopolist's five minutes) is entirely the fault of this organization. And when someone wants to whiten it, then remind them, for example, of the Switzerland-Ukraine match. If a person is from our country, it should work. And this is not to mention the constant closing of eyes to financial fair play (which in the Super League, of course, will be eliminated as a concept), incomprehensible games with formats and number of participants, the creation of tournaments the Conference League.

But sorry, the world is not black and white. It has much more colors and shades of various stripes. Shortcomings of UEFA as a structure, questions about the formats of its tournaments - these are just shortcomings. They don't crash football entirely. They certainly have a sporting principle; they have a variety of games and participants (oh, how the fans swear when the same pairs fall out in the Champions League for several years in a row - so now it will be every year!); they, like national championships, leave football the possibility of a fairy tale. And the same clubs of the scale of Dawn for participation in the group stage of the Europa League can cover the annual budget - and these are not our words, but the former head of the Luhansk people.

Yes, we run into finances here too. Only now, UEFA finances are open to all who are successful in their championships. After the outflow of most of the grandees of European football to the Super League, these finances will fall significantly. Sponsors are not their enemies. Although there has already been news of UEFA's negotiations with CentricusAsset Management on funding for 7 billion euros, so far, this is only negotiations. And now UEFA has almost no trump cards because their behavior is akin to death throes.

In the event of a complete liquidation (or reduction of significance to the very minimum level, which is still more likely) of UEFA tournaments, we can see a repetition of many quite decent (by the standards of Europe) clubs of the fate of our Metalist and Dnipro. Forgive me, why play? What is your motivation? What will the possible championship of your country give? Hence, as we understand it, the threat to the titles themselves.
The grandees can talk as much as they want about Cadiz, Huesca, Levante, Verona, Fulham, and others, using them as a common noun, but only one Lester in 2016 once showed that money does not solve everything, albeit a lot. And if the top clubs, as they say, don't want to play with teams below the level, then these questions are exclusively for them. Sports cannot be made up of competitors of the same level. And so in the Super League, we will see how "the first will be the last", to paraphrase something. Yes, let's look at Juventus, accustomed to the (almost) eternal Scudetto, in 20th place, listen to Agnelli's arguments.

It is also interesting where the Super League participants will take on the new top players. Yes, we mean that the national championships and European cups will remain, but the players in them will not oppose the top clubs, and therefore will not develop. Make do with only their academies? It's funny. And what should the guys from the cities do where there are no Super League clubs academies?

And yes, teams. So far, we have such a picture that the French national team may well play at Euro without the conditional Pogba and Griezmann, the Spanish national team - without Ramos, the German national team - without Kroos, and the Ukrainian national team - without Zinchenko. And the list is huge. That is, the Super League can become an institution of national teams not just across the throat but can destroy it. The matches of the national teams, if they do not disappear, then they will seduce somewhere at the same level as the games of the youth national teams now. And if in some countries this importance has fallen, then this obviously cannot be said about Ukraine. For Ukrainians, the leading team is significant.

Roughly speaking, we are dealing with a monopoly tournament that can replace all the others. Even so: the rest of football. The first - by destroying, the second - by blocking, the third by cutting off the finances. Etc.
Club selection criteria and management equidistance

The most interesting, and at the same time incomprehensible. Instead, everything is clear - money again.

The simplest: is the Super League entire without two finalists of the last Champions League at once - Bayern Munich and PSG? And what are clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham, and Milan doing in it? Just look at the last time they won championships at home, not to mention European cups. Super League creators love historical references. For example, Andrea Agnelli (the head of a club that has not taken European tournaments for 25 years) repeatedly spoke out sharply towards Atalanta - they say the club should not get into the most prestigious game of the Old World in just one good season. As a result, we have a situation when there are chances to be represented by clubs like RB Leipzig, which have no history at all but have money in the new tournament. Another thing is that the Germans themselves refused to participate in the tournament. At almost every point from the Super League lobbyists, we can see double standards. But even if we do not even dig deeper but take a slightly closer look at the surface, we immediately see the answer - money. Money. And again, money.

Sports - zero. Criticism of the UEFA leadership and this substance often, as we have already said, has a rational grain in it. Still, instead of it, we are offered a directorate consisting of owners of clubs with below-average reputations, even among the fans of their teams. Remember the times when in Ukraine one person was in charge of a club, and his brother was in charge of the Football Federation? So the Super League will be run by the presidents of the clubs themselves - Real, Juventus, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. The first one is the main one. In the way, in the NBA and NHL Super League so beloved by lobbyists, this cannot be imagined.
